Since April this year, Nessus has completely re-written Nessus to give us version 4.2! Nessus 4.2 now sports an all new Flash-based interface. Also with this version, scan results and policies will be stored on the server instead of in a client. With this version, multiple users can log into the web-based interface concurrently and can use a “compare” function to view differences against a previous scan.
Nessus 4.2 will also let you log out of the interface and log back in without disrupting scans that are in progress! An administrator can pause or stop the scan of another user! Fedora 12, SUSE 10 Enterprise and Ubuntu 9.10 are now officially supported! Good news for all them Ubuntu lovers! This version uses lesser memory and can complete scans in less time than previous versions. The SYN port scanner in this version is now much faster against a firewalled host with all ports closed.
